On Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins claimed center Jansen Harkins from the Winnipeg Jets.
A native of Cleveland, OH, Harkins was a second round draft choice of the Jets back in 2015.
2019-20 was Harkins’ debut season for Winnipeg. He scored a pair of goals in 29 games.
Harkins spent parts of four seasons, with the Jets. The 2021-22 campaign was his best, as he had seven goals, along with a faceoff win percentage of 63.6%, in a career-high 77 games.
Last season, Harkins played most of the time, for the Manitoba Moose of the AHL, where he recorded 50 points (25 G; 25 A), in 44 games.
It’s unsure if Harkins would win a spot on the Penguins’ fourth line to open the season, but if nothing else, he would provide some nice, bottom six depth at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
